ruinart x jeppe hein
carte blanche 2022

Jeppe Hein's work stands out for the surprising and appealing elements that put the viewer at the center of the event.”

Born in 1974, the Danish artist lives and works in Berlin, a clever heir of the minimalist conceptual art movement of the 70s.
He made his reputation with installations whose apparent simplicity altered the viewer’s relationship with space and encouraged dialogue.

Viewer participation is a crucial aspect of his work, as is his interest in the five senses and the four elements, which are included in his installations.
Jeppe Hein’s work is based on the four elements - earth, water, air and fire – essential to life and to the making of Champagne. Each element is represented by a symbolic equivalent: a piece of chalk (earth), some grapes (sun), an aroma (air) and a drop of essential oil (water).

Right Here, Right Now makes us aware of the beauty of the moment and of our existence in the world, through taste, touch, hearing and vision. The artist’s vision fits perfectly with Ruinart’s commitment to art that enhances our perception of nature, connects us to one another and elevates our spirits.Art that puts us into contact with the environment, recreating wonder and charm.

“ART MEETS THE ELEMENTSESSENTIAL TO THE MAKINGOF champagne.”

To Jeppe Hein, the process of making and tasting Champagne, from the grape harvest to the tickle of bubbles on the palate, is a complete sensory experience. He transposes its essence in an art installation that can be experienced through every sense.
Jeppe Hein’s vision does not resolve into a static work, but a creation in continuous evolution, in which everyone can participate and collaborate.
This is an invitation to seize the moment.

To activate every sense.
To open our hearts and reflect.

We are here, and now.
Let us share this moment:
By listening to our internal sensations,
Enjoying an artistic experience,
Looking at our reflections,
We are in touch with the natural elements:
Earth, air, water, the sun.
We are connected to each other.
We are in touch with our innermost self.
And the experience is uplifting.

LIKE BUBBLES
OF CHAMPAGNE
THAT RISE UP IN THE AIR...

When you put your hand inside the opening of a large mirror, you are invited to accept a moment of surprise and amazement. The smooth coolness of a piece of chalk, the golden globe of a grape berry, the melting warmth of a drop of oil on the palm of your hand, followed by their scents: these unexpected sensations elicit a pure, elemental memory, just as a great Champagne expresses its terroir.

Right Here, Right Now NOT ONLY INVITES US TO JOIN IN A COLLECTIVE ADVENTURE, BUT ALSO TO LIVE AN INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE, BY PUTTING US AT THE CENTER OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS.”
